Who is Paul Solomon
Paul Solomon - the other American “sleeping prophet” known internationally as a teacher, healer, minister, psychic and humanitarian was nominated for his efforts particularly on behalf of the enslaved children and refugees of Thailand, for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
After a Dark Night of the Soul period in his life, Paul made contact with his Superconscious Mind and so began his life’s work. Like Edgar Cayce and Andrew Jackson Davis, who had both made contact with a similar Source, Paul too could “view the body” at a distance, make accurate diagnosis and suggest treatment that saved lives.
Paul traveled the world giving lectures and workshops to hundreds of thousands of people, and at the time of his death in 1994, he had given over 1500 individual trance Readings on nearly every aspect of spiritual growth.
Over the years, Paul shared the spotlight with such leading lights as Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Sir George Trevelyan, Buddhist Priestess Tamo San, Dr. Jerry Jampolski, Buckminister Fuller, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Founders of the Findhorn Community - Peter and Eileen Caddy, Jean Houston, Sun Bear, Manly Palmer Hall, Marcus Bach and many others...
The Paul Solomon Story
On July 7, 1939, in Rogers, Arkansas, a young couple welcomed their second son, William Bilo Dove. The middle child of three, he would later become known as Paul Solomon, a man whose remarkable psychic abilities led him to a life of spiritual teaching, healing, and humanitarian work.
Early Years
Raised in a strict Southern Baptist family, Paul grew up surrounded by visiting pastors and fervent prayer meetings. Listening from his bedroom, he came to accept God as an active presence in daily life, believing in direct communication with the divine.
His mother read the Bible at breakfast, questioning the children about its meaning. His older brother showed no interest, and his younger sister was too small to understand, leaving Paul as the sole eager participant. He memorized scripture early, particularly drawn to John 14. His deep connection with biblical stories made him feel as if he had lived them, unsettling his family. His mother, fearing his insights came from Satan, forbade him from speaking of them, leaving Paul confused about his place in the family.
Sensitive and painfully shy, Paul saw "good lights" and "bad lights" around people, later recognizing these as human auras. Labelled strange, he found solace only with his foster brother, though their early relationship was contentious.
At seven, Paul attended his first revival meeting, where he insisted on being baptized despite his father's objections. His bold declaration—"I know exactly what it means. It means I don't belong to me anymore. I belong to Jesus."—moved his father to tears, and he allowed the baptism.
Meeting R.G. Lee
At a church convention in Fort Worth, Texas, Paul encountered the renowned preacher R.G. Lee. Enthralled by his dramatic storytelling, Paul had an electrifying experience, feeling engulfed in flames of energy. Afterward, R.G. Lee, upon meeting him, declared, "He is a master among us," leaving Paul's father in shock. Lee affirmed his belief that Paul was divinely chosen, marking a pivotal moment in Paul's life.
School Struggles and a Spirit Friend
Paul struggled in school, seeing letters as meaningless symbols rather than pictures. His frustration led to distress, and only later did he understand his mind worked differently due to past-life experiences in a pictographic culture.
At seven, Paul befriended a black boy named Jaida. When Jaida died, Paul was devastated—until he saw his friend beside him, speaking of life beyond death. Jaida became Paul's spirit guide, helping him develop his psychic abilities, including absorbing information by holding books against his stomach. This continued until Paul was fourteen when, fearing his gifts were evil, he rejected Jaida and his abilities.
At fourteen, after his mother suggested his abilities might come from the devil, Paul attempted suicide, slashing his chest. Though he survived, the experience suppressed his psychic gifts. Hospitalized and forced to see a psychiatrist, Paul remained silent during sessions. Soon after, he decided to adopt a confident persona, changing his demeanour forever.
The Being of Light
One night, praying desperately to know God, Paul had a profound out-of-body experience. He found himself in a vast field, facing a luminous being of immense presence. Running into its embrace, he felt his lifelong loneliness vanish. This encounter transformed his understanding of God and reaffirmed his purpose.
The Adventure Years
In his late teens, Paul attended a music conservatory, where he experienced another out-of-body encounter with divine teachers. This revelation deepened his spiritual quest. Around this time, he met James Dean in Texas during the filming of Giant. Their deep conversation, in which Dean shared his childhood pain, gave Paul a sense of being truly understood for the first time.
Military Service and Seminary
After high school, Paul joined the Army, training as a hypnotherapist at Brooke Army Medical Center. Following his service, he entered seminary, excelling in biblical studies and public speaking. He became a minister but struggled to find work. While in California, he discovered his wife had fallen in love with another man, leading to divorce—a scandal within the Southern Baptist community that shattered his dreams.
Heartbroken, Paul turned to a rebellious, self-destructive lifestyle, drifting from job to job. Eventually, he ended up in Atlanta, helping his sister with her beauty business before working at a bookstore, where he met friends involved in partying. By 1972, abandoned and deeply depressed, Paul reached his lowest point.
The Awakening
A friend, Harry Snipes, concerned about Paul’s state, suggested hypnosis as a way to heal. On February 15, 1972, during a session, Paul entered a deep trance, convulsed, and then spoke in a powerful voice. Unknowingly, he had accessed "The Source." Initially sceptical, Paul resisted further sessions until the voice revealed the location of his grandfather’s long-lost bonds. When Paul’s father confirmed the information was accurate and divinely guided, Paul accepted his calling.
In the weeks that followed Paul and Harry resumed their questioning and investigations with the "voice."
"What is your name? What is it like where you live? Who or what are you?" they asked.
The "voice" replied, "This is not a spirit or some other person. You are talking with the rest of your mind. The mind that you think of as your mind is just the tip of the iceberg. There is much more to your thinking ability than that. The mind that you ordinarily think with is a result of your five external senses observing the world around you and making judgments about what it sees, hears and feels. It gathers information and makes logical conclusions. This mind is external, a body phenomenon, a result of the brain functioning. But this mind is not the sum of your intelligence."
The "voice" began to refer to itself as "Source," explaining that it was the source of Paul's mind, his Super-conscious or Higher Self. The voice that communicated through Paul was his own higher consciousness, the greater consciousness within him that is also in all people.
The Source explained that the same guidance and direction was available to every person, but in most people, it remained as unused potential. Paul and Harry began to refer to the "voice" as The Source, and communications by The Source as "readings." Their questions, the Source advised them, should always be directed to God or Source, then God could choose the messenger, whether it be spirit guide or any other teacher or master.
The Source referred to itself as "We," it was explained, because messengers or servants of God also communicated in the readings. They were called "The Cloud of Witnesses." This collective consciousness could include Paul's own Higher Mind, the Higher Mind of the person receiving the reading, and also angels, spirit guides and discarnate souls who in previous lifetimes had mastered certain areas of knowledge. "We are a group of beings with a single consciousness who allow in the Light of God", the readings explained. This Source of knowledge and wisdom also included a Hall of Records, which contained records of the history of the Universe. The records, The Source explained, are more precisely called the "Akashic Record," where past, present and future are written on the skein of time and space.
The Source Readings and Spiritual Work
Paul's trance readings became sought after, providing profound medical diagnoses and spiritual insights. Doctors, including those at Yale Medical School, validated his abilities. With increasing demand and on the instruction of the Source, Paul adopted the pseudonym "Paul Solomon," symbolizing wisdom and teaching.
Guided by The Source, he developed Inner Light Consciousness, a structured spiritual practice blending meditation, diet, and mental discipline. This evolved into The Fellowship of the Inner Light, an interfaith community based in Virginia Beach.
As well as thousands of Readings Paul’s work covered such topics as:
- Soul Growth
- Altered States of Consciousness and Awareness
- Ancient Mystery Traditions and Arcane Knowledge
- Comparative Religion
- Sacred Scripture
- Qabalah
- Universal Law
- Holistic Healing and many other facets of human existence
Global Mission and Humanitarian Work
Over the years, Paul lectured worldwide, offering guidance in fields ranging from science to spirituality. He worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, where she encouraged him to demonstrate prosperity as a path to ending poverty. In 1993, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in rescuing enslaved children in Thailand and supporting humanitarian projects worldwide.
Legacy
Paul Solomon became a respected authority on self-development, comparative religion, and holistic healing. His work attracted royalty, world leaders, and celebrities, yet he always emphasized the divine teacher within each person. He believed in uniting people across cultures and faiths, declaring, "Every person on the planet needs to know that someone cares."
On March 4, 1994, Paul Solomon passed away in Virginia Beach, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and service to humanity.
And remember...
“You are an intricate, delicate, complex, fascinating, wonderful creation. Absolutely wonderful. . .
And when you have confidence, feel appreciated and feel loved, you are no longer separated from a God that you feel condemned by, but have a relationship with a God that is proud of what He made, finds it acceptable, and has a love for you.
And [having an] understanding of that, [it] opens a channel of communication.”
